The Story

The Douglas C. Greene Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Southeast Missouri State University announces the third annual Southeast Startup Pitch Competition will take place on May 1.

The Startup Pitch Competition gives current full-time undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to develop real-world skills for an innovative new business idea. The incentive is a cash prize of up to $2,000.

Students can compete as individuals or teams. At least one team member must attend one of the informational sessions being held at Catapult Creative House, located at 612 Broadway in downtown Cape Girardeau, at 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 20, Feb. 6, Feb. 13 or Feb. 20. Students must develop a three-minute video pitch and executive summary. The deadline to submit entries online is Friday, April 12.

The top five teams will be notified and will pitch their ideas live at a Common Hour program scheduled on May 1 in Glenn Auditorium of Dempster Hall.

The judges will then award first place with a $2,000 cash prize, second place with a $1,000 cash prize, and third place with a $500 cash prize.
