A Corvallis business accelerator has graduated its third group of business startups and is taking applications for the next class.
The Advantage Accelerator at Oregon State University is part of the Regional Acceleration and Innovation Network, or RAIN.
RAIN, which also includes a business accelerator in Eugene, is intended to help promising companies get off the ground or existing ones grow, creating jobs and boosting the economy. It brings together resources from local governments, the business community, OSU and the University of Oregon.
Companies in the latest Corvallis group of graduates are:
Core Vitality Clinic medical facility, which provides regenerative medical treatments for orthopedic, neuro-degenerative and neuro-developmental conditions along with regenerative aesthetics for non-surgical facial rejuvenation.
DanioDiscovery, a contract research laboratory providing customers with data regarding the bioactivity of small molecules and mixtures, using a low-cost innovation, the embryonic zebrafish.
e-MSion, which has developed technology that increases the accuracy of identification and quantification of molecules from complex mixtures while largely eliminating misidentifications, is readily adaptable to current mass spectrometers, and enables new designs.
Northwest Research Laboratories, which has manufactured an ultraviolet audit product to confirm surfaces were cleaned in hotels, restaurants, hospitals, cruise ships, salons, public spaces and transportation.
Pure Living, an online news aggregator and blog to educate and advise women how to identify and reduce harmful effects of synthetic chemicals and naturally occurring toxins through lifestyle changes, purchasing choices and diagnostic testing.
The accelerator will hold a “Demo Day” on Thursday to introduce the latest group of startups to the community.
Nineteen companies have completed the program so far, generating $6.6 million in revenue and grants, RAIN officials said. As the program continues, the hope is it will lead to the successful launching of about five sustainable new companies a year by 2017, they said.
The Advantage Accelerator is now seeking applicants for the next five-month program, which will begin July 11 and continue into early December.
Among other things, the Advantage program includes training on how to attract investors, formation of a valid business model, planning for the future, and creation of an initial product to show prospective customers, investors or manufacturers.
It provides mentoring from industry and entrepreneurial experts, consulting sessions, access to seed grants and the OSU Venture Fund, as well as meetings with active investors and workshops on pertinent topics.
