The annual summit for research institution gap fund and accelerator programs, including proof of concept programs, startup accelerators, and university venture funds

The Story

Opportunity Fund awards are intended to support new projects (not supplement current research). Proposals must involve faculty from at least two departments/units/colleges and are limited to $100,000 for the entire project period (two years)

The award will help fund their proposal entitled:

“Characterization of subjects at risk for autosomal dominantly inherited spinocerebellar ataxias, SCA 1 and 3.”

The award came from the The UF Office of Research who announced the competition for the 2012 Research Opportunity Seed Fund back in October of 2011.  The program targeted interdisciplinary, collaborative research initiatives that have potential for extramural support. Opportunity Fund awards are intended to support new projects (not supplement current research). Proposals must involve faculty from at least two departments/units/colleges and are limited to $100,000 for the entire project period (two years).

The College of Medicine was allowed to submit a maximum of 10 proposals for this campus-wide competition.   Congratulations to Drs. Subramony and Hass for their award!
