The Story

PULLMAN, Wash. – Thanks to grants from the Commercialization Gap Fund (CGF), seven Washington State University researchers are one step closer to realizing the public impact of their innovations.

In collaboration with the WSU Office of Commercialization (OC), the recipients will work to reach key development milestones during the 12-month funding cycle.

“We are pleased to offer the CGF program to advance technologies that are at the end stages of research but require additional development to attract outside partners and ultimately enter the marketplace,” said Sita Pappu, OC director.

Twenty applicants entered the competitive funding process in August. A panel of external reviewers that included investors, entrepreneurs and business executives from across the state reviewed proposals.

The next CGF applications will be accepted next summer.

The fund is a partnership among the WSU offices of commercialization, the president, provost and vice president for research, and the Washington Research Foundation.
