Therapeutic/Medtech Maturation GAP
Academia aims to de-risk therapeutic assets to the point of out-licensing – be it to industry or a startup. However in therapeutics and medtech, VCs and industry are demanding more advanced assets, and few are investing in early-stage projects. In response, many institutions are installing/exploring targeted and expanded GAP funding and programming to address this challenge and opportunity. In 2025, GAP COA will host a quarterly affinity group to support discussions around therapeutic project identification, diligence, selection, and funding amounts. We also aim to develop modality-specific best practices to advance projects in a capital and time-efficient manner levering resources both internal to the university as well as external CROs and consultants.
