The Story

Three Northeast Ohio startups have received funding from Innovation Fund Northeast Ohio in Elyria.

Innovation Fund Northeast Ohio is a pre-seed fund for startups in the technology space. It was founded by the Lorain County Community College Foundation and launched in 2007. Since then, the fund has committed more than $15 million to 269 startups in the region, a news release stated. The Innovation Fund is administered by technology incubator GLIDE at Lorain County Community College.

The entrepreneurs receiving funds in this round are RooSense LLC in Akron, Farm Fare in Cleveland and Hyr Medical in Highland Heights.

RooSense, which has created a wearable sensor to monitor sweat electrolyte levels, will receive $25,000, the release said. Farm Fare, a food supply-chain technology company designed to encourage resource sharing between regional food hubs, is receiving $100,000. And Hyr Medical will receive $100,000 for its online platform designed for physician freelancing to directly connect practitioners and medical practices.
