The annual summit for research institution gap fund and accelerator programs, including proof of concept programs, startup accelerators, and university venture funds

The Story

Six businesses will join NewBoCo’s Iowa Startup Accelerator as part of its spring program.

The six companies will be Steel Therapeutics of Iowa City, Presaj of Cedar Rapids, Lotus Razors of Ames; Curbicus of Clear Lake; and Stagerie and Sevelyn, both of Clive.

“Diversity seems to be a theme with this year’s cohort,” Managing Director Alex Taylor said in a Wednesday news release.

The businesses include “two consumer products, three health care services and one real estate sales service. Combined, this is one of the most diverse Accelerator cohorts we’ve ever worked with.”

The Accelerator is a 14-week program that pairs Iowa-based start-ups with mentors, seed funding and product-development expertise.

The Accelerator spring group will graduate in time to be featured June 10 and 11 during EntreFest 2021 in Cedar Rapids.

Capital for the program comes from the $30 Million Iowa Startup Accelerator Ventures Fund.

Participating companies receive seed capital, coaching sessions;, and educational workshops on budgeting, sales and marketing, raising capital and other topics.

Cedar Raids-based New Bohemian Innovation Collaborative, or NewBoCo, is a 501(c)(3) organization.
