The Story

DETROIT — Wayne State University has been selected to continue oversight of the Michigan Translational Research and Commercialization (MTRAC) statewide program’s Advanced Computing Innovation Hub. This program funded by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation aims to enhance Michigan’s innovation ecosystem by fostering the development and commercialization of advanced computing technologies, and leverages Wayne State’s extensive expertise in technology commercialization and translational research to drive economic growth and create impactful innovations in the advanced computing sector.

The renewal will have a total budget of $850,000 which includes funding from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and Wayne State University.

“The Advanced Computing Innovation Hub will serve as a catalyst for collaboration among academic institutions, industry stakeholders, and governmental entities, fostering an environment conducive to innovation and commercialization, in areas such as AI, machine learning, and cybersecurity,” said Taunya Phillips, assistant vice president for technology commercialization at Wayne State. “This funding will allow us to continue to establish partnerships with institutions across Michigan and work towards commercialization efforts of the future funded projects of this program that will have great societal impact.”
