The University Innovation Council has begun reviewing the 275 project pre-proposals that were submitted for the strategic innovation fund, and over the coming weeks the council will provide feedback on the pre-proposals and help identify opportunities for collaboration.
Of the submissions, 180 of the project leaders were identified as faculty members, with 81 from staff and 26 from students. Overall, the 275 teams comprise 449 faculty members, 212 staff, 127 non-Marquette affiliated individuals, 106 students and 52 alumni.
All projects are required to support and advance the goals and priorities outlined in the university’s strategic plan, Beyond Boundaries. The pre-proposals indicated relationships to all six of the plan’s themes. However, Pursuit of Academic Excellence for Human Wellbeing, Research in Action, and Social Responsibility and Community Engagement were the most active themes.
Following Innovation Council review, applicants will revise and refine their proposals, as appropriate. The University Financial Planning and Review Committee will provide budget development tools and assistance closer to the final deadline. Small requests (those less than $5,000) will continue via the short application format; major requests will require a more detailed final proposal.
Final proposals are due Friday, March 27, at 5 p.m.
The Innovation Council and University Financial Planning and Review Committee will review and provide feedback to university leadership. Further review will include the University Leadership Council, and the president and provost will give the final review.
