Makerere University with 20 awards out of 97 grantees has as a single institution topped the list of 290 initial applications for seed funding from NORHED. The Norwegian Programme for Capacity Building in Higher Education and
Research for Development (NORHED) is a new programme from the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad) aimed at strengthening the capacity in higher education and research in Low and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs).
NORHED builds on and replaces Norway’s NUFU (the Norwegian Programme for Development, Research and Education) and NOMA (Norad’s Programme for Master Studies) programmes.
Seed funding to the institutions was given in the categories of; Education and training, Health, Natural ResourceManagement, Climate Change and Environment, Economic and Democratic Governance, Humanities, Culture, Media and Communication, and Capacity building in South Sudan.
