The Story

King Saud University (KSU) will launch a fund to support and promote scientific research in various universities across the Kingdom.Dr. Ahmed bin Salim Al-Ameri, vice rector of the KSU Graduate Studies and Scientific Research (GSSR), recently announced this during an award ceremony at the Saudi Dental Society (SDS).The function was held on the sidelines of the 16th King Saud University Conference and the 27th SDS International Dental Conference.“The project will be funded with donations and grants from private individuals who are keen and interested in promoting scientific research in local universities,” he said.

He expressed optimism regarding support for the research project, adding that the availability of financial support and infrastructure for the initiative is essential since it will engender and enrich scientific research and encourage others to undertake similar projects.He noted that a total of 3,100 research papers were published at the university last year and that scientific production reached 6,000 books in both Arabic and English.He noted that research papers comprised the largest number published so far published at the university.The Saudi Dental Society award given on the occasion was divided into different categories.The Dr. Ahmed bin Salim Al-Ameri Award was received by Dr. Hind Al-Harbi. The awards for newly graduated doctors were received by Dr. Mohamed Al-Sarhan, Dr. Linya Al-Myrad, Dr. Salih Al-Ajloon and Dr. Mohammed Al-Ajmi.The awards for postgraduates were received by Dr. Hasan Al-Nahwi, Dr. Ala Abu Obeid and Dr. Randa Al-Fantawi.Three winners for best posters also received the award — Dr. Hana Banjar, Dr. Mashad Al-Suwaidan and Dr. Musaid Al-Tamame.
