On a sunny summer day, the leaders of seven battery-focused startup companies met in Binghamton to visit the Raymond Corporation and play some golf — a day which could fool onlookers into mistaking the members of the ChargeUp Accelerator’s second cohort for a group of friends enjoying a day out.
The seven companies involved in the Binghamton University, Koffman Southern Tier Incubator and New Energy New York-led program were chosen from about 140 applicants, and are right around the halfway point in their intensive six-month curriculum meant to improve their technology and prepare them for the investment process.
In 2023, NENY was designated a federal Tech Hub, and became the only Battery Hub in the United States, a designation that has generated hundreds of thousands of dollars in funding and the creation of programs including ChargeUp Accelerator.
Through the NENY ChargeUp Accelerator program, each company receives $25,000 in funding, has access to state-of-the-art labs and facilities and the opportunity for one-on-one mentoring with experts in their field.
