Award & Investment Overview
UNIIQ, South Holland’s proof-of-concept investment fund, has invested a total of €1.1 million in three early-stage technology companies developing innovations in biotechnology, aerospace, and medical technology.
The investments include €400,000 for Clear2Cure, a biotech spinout from Utrecht University developing a new class of antibody therapeutics; €350,000 for AerogridUAV, a Delft-based aerospace startup developing all-weather autonomous drone technology; and €350,000 for Inflight ICU, which is commercializing a modular intensive care unit designed for commercial aircraft.
Beyond providing proof-of-concept capital, UNIIQ supports portfolio companies with commercialization strategy, follow-on financing, and partnerships with industry and research institutions, helping accelerate the transition from validated technology to market-ready products.

UNIIQ represents an important regional proof-of-concept funding model that bridges the gap between university research, early technology validation, and private investment.
Each of the funded companies illustrates a different commercialization pathway. Clear2Cure emerged as a university spinout translating biomedical research into therapeutic development. AerogridUAV combines university collaboration with government and defense partnerships to advance aviation technologies. Inflight ICU demonstrates how engineering innovation can address both healthcare access and sustainability challenges through commercialization.
From a Mind the GAP perspective, proof-of-concept funds like UNIIQ play a critical role in reducing early commercialization risk by supporting technical validation before companies are ready for institutional venture investment. Clear2Cure is developing Clearbodies®, a therapeutic platform that removes harmful biological targets by leveraging natural degradation pathways without activating the immune system, with the goal of reducing side effects associated with conventional antibody therapies.
AerogridUAV is developing autonomous drone technology capable of safely operating in severe weather conditions and landing on moving platforms, expanding operational capabilities for defense and commercial maritime applications.
Inflight ICU has developed The Guardian, a modular intensive care system that converts commercial aircraft into long-distance medical transport platforms, providing a lower-cost and lower-emissions alternative to dedicated air ambulances.
