With a couple of investments already out, The Engine Ventures has a new war chest to back more early-stage startups solving the world’s biggest problems.
The Cambridge-based venture capital investor told the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission this week it has raised $398 million for its third fund, above its previously declared target of $350 million.
Katie Rae, CEO and managing partner at The Engine Ventures, said that in the latest fundraise, MIT was once again among the limited partners as an anchor investor, contributing in the “sub 10%.” Other investors included endowments, pensions and large family offices.
