SynBio 10x will be held in collaboration with the RNA Institute and the University of New South Wales’ School of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences. Each startup in the accelerator program will get a $120,000 investment from Main Sequence, with the promise that the VC will look to provide further funding after the program for high-performing startups. UNSW Founders will also invest an additional $20,000 in each of the cohort’s startups.
Since 2017, Main Sequence has invested in more than 40 firms through the CSIRO Innovation Funds 1 and 2. Through collaborations with industry, the CSIRO, and 22 Australian universities, these businesses have created over 1,200 employment.
