A Venture Capital Roundtable taking place at Judge Business School in Cambridge tomorrow evening will examine the effect that the global economic climate is having on VC investment in UK hi-tech.

Neil MacMullen, the co-founder of disruptive radio technology company, Neul and Tony Raven, the new CEO of Cambridge University’s technology transfer arm, Cambridge Enterprise will be part of the panel ‘dissecting the hi-tech term sheet’ at the event, organised by CUTEC in partnership with law firm, SNR Denton.

Cambridge based Neul closed a $12.8m (£8m) Series A round in June 2011, backed by a large syndicate of venture and angel investors, while Cambridge Enterprise recently revealed plans to raise a £20m to £30m venture fund to support seed as well as later stage investment.

Moderated by SNR Denton partner, Andrew Harris, the panel will look at current trends in venture investment in the hi-tech space, paying particular attention to how the current economic climate is affecting the commercialisation of UK technology. Tickets are still available to attend the event.

The focus of the discussion feeds into CUTEC’s upcoming showcase event, the Technology Ventures Conference, the theme for which this year is ‘Innovation in an uncertain world.’ TVC is Europe’s largest student-run conference. Among the speakers at TVC2012 are Julie Meyer, founder and CEO of Ariadne Capital and Elizabeth Varley, co-founder of TechHub.

CUTEC or Cambridge University Technology and Enterprise Club organises a programme of events aimed at bringing the worlds of academia and business together. Highlights this year include the Global Health Hack Day it co-organised with the Humanitarian Centre.
