The annual summit for research institution gap fund and accelerator programs, including proof of concept programs, startup accelerators, and university venture funds

The Story

The Ohio Third Frontier Commission awarded a combined $150,000 Thursday toward prototypes and market testing for two Ohio State University inventions.

The grants come from the Technology Validation and Start-Up Fund, which is targeted for bringing technology to commercialization from Ohio colleges, universities and nonprofit research institutions.

SightFourAll Inc., a Columbus company founded in September, will receive $100,000 toward developing software that can use a smartphone or tablet camera to conduct several different eye tests such as visual acuity and eye alignment. It’s meant to lower the cost and increase mobility for eye exams internationally. The company licensed the technology from the university.
