The annual summit for research institution gap fund and accelerator programs, including proof of concept programs, startup accelerators, and university venture funds

The Story

Nashville’s record-setting economic development recruit is helping fund a series of programs at the city’s Entrepreneur Center.

Amazon.com Inc. (Nasdaq: AMZN) is now a formal “supporting partner” of the 11-year-old nonprofit organization, which announced the contribution on March 31. Amazon’s funding will support five existing programs at the EC:

  • PreFlight, which is for first-time entrepreneurs in the idea stage of creating their business
  • InFlight, focused on early-stage startups in any industry
  • Twende, a year-long program for Black and minority entrepreneurs
  • Project Healthcare, an accelerator for high-growth startups in that industry
  • Project Music & Entertainment, which focuses on entrepreneurs in music, sports, film, esports, gaming, publishing and more

“This partnership benefits our entire entrepreneurial community as we connect them to the resources needed to help increase their probability of success,” said Jane Allen, CEO of the Nashville Entrepreneur Center. “Nashville is one of the best places to start a business — Amazon’s presence in our city has further underscored this idea.”

Allen added: “After a decade of developing and leading entrepreneurial education efforts, our programming has many expansion opportunities. With Supporting Partner funding from Amazon and others, we can move toward these growth points more easily.”
