The annual summit for research institution gap fund and accelerator programs, including proof of concept programs, startup accelerators, and university venture funds

The Story

The University of Malta today launched the Take-Off Business Incubator, along with the launch of the Seed Fund Award in the presence of Economy Minister Chris Cardona and Education and Employment Minister Evarist Bartolo.

Prof Juanito Camilleri, the rector of the University, was also present.

The incubator is situated at Dar Guzeppi Zahra within the University complex, and is a start-up development space that helps innovators and aspiring entrepreneurs create thriving technology and knowledge-based ventures.

It provides fledgling start-up companies with private and shared work spaces and most importantly business support, advice and vital connections.

The Seed Award is Malta’s first funding programme designed to support early-stage technology and start-up company development.

The government has donated a total 100,000 euros, where grants of between 2,500 and 20,000 euros will be awarded to help to close the funding gap experienced by researchers and entrepreneurs in the critical early stages of technology commercialization and start-up development.
