The annual summit for research institution gap fund and accelerator programs, including proof of concept programs, startup accelerators, and university venture funds

The Story

University of Delaware’s annual Hen Hatch startup funding competition is back for 2020, with applications currently open for both tracks: one for current students, and one for alumni, faculty and staff.

The 10 most promising startups from each track will be selected to pitch in the semifinals in March, followed by the finals in May, where teams will compete for more than $100,000 in funding and services.

Last year’s student track winner, 360VR, received $20,000 in funding to further develop their virtual reality platform, which helps first responders by creating 3D floor plans of buildings in case of emergency. Other past finalists and winners include Carvertise (then known as Penguin Ads), NERDit NOWTheraV (then known as Vibrating Therapeutic Apparel) and WilmInvest.

Startups are eligible if they have at least one founder who is a student, alumni, faculty or staff member (including retirees) of UD and have generated less than $250,000 in revenue.
