The
University >< Industry Virtual Summit 2015/16 is a practitioner-driven platform
for those interested in university-industry interactions. Through
interactive web-based exchanges and associated tools, we will work together to grow the community of practice and to create program momentum at this exciting nexus of innovation.
The virtual format was chosen to provide a cost-effective option to include deeper discussion and expanded perspectives through the inclusion of institutions and companies of all sizes and program maturity.
Six sessions will be delivered through three unique formats built around the objectives to inform. discuss. network.
University Movement Review: 2-3 tactical reviews of leading programs, open discussion, and post-event sharing of reports and program documents to better understand different approaches to university-side corporate relations. The basis for these three models was discovered in an earlier study and can be widely observed today in the evolution of the corporate relations practice at research institutions
Corporate Relations Manager Peer Roundtable: Virtual roundtables with moderated talking points to lead discussion. This session is open and personal via web-cams/document sharing with the goal of sharing concepts, tackling challenges, and networking with a group of your peer professionals
Industry Model Review: Discussion of 1-2 high-tech company approaches to university-industry relations. The discussions will be lead by relationship managers at these companies and address how they identify and execute on collaborative opportunities. Companies will also discuss specific challenges that could be addressed through new university partnerships
Topics were carefully chosen based on:
- Historical perspective: The evolution of U-I practices over the past decade
- Leading methods: Tactics and approaches that have lead to successful U-I engagement
- Shape the future: Interest areas to drive purposeful discussion and evolution within the community and individual programs
Participants will receive Two (2) access points for their organization and can invite as many as can attend (from multiple units) at those locations to encourage campus-wide collaboration.
The full University >< Industry Virtual Summit 2015/16 consists of 6 sessions over the next year. All sessions will take place from 12-1:30PM EST US.
